Internal baking no more?

Hi. So I have always favored using the Internal render for baking Normal maps since i’ve found it do the job a lot faster than cycles. Now when 2.8 at last has let go of the internal render (and I can’t find a bake option in Eevee), do I no other option than using the much slower approach of baking in cycles? :grimacing:

Thanks!

Unfortunately not, as far as I know. I’m missing the internal renderer for the same reason as well. It seems Cycles bakes every high poly one by one, which makes baking with many parts much, much slower than it was before. The only option would be to combine all high polys into one mesh before baking, but that’s an annoying task if you have to rebake multiple times after some changes.

The only speed up I know of right now is reducing the samples as much as possible. I think 2-4 samples work well for all maps but AO.

Thanks. Yes, I found it to be the best way to do it as well. Baking at 1 sample at the moment

you know you can download 2.79 in a zip format and run it from the folder you unzip it to?

I do it for displacement maps and other things 2.8 cant do https://download.blender.org/release/Blender2.79/ get the zip file here
