Buy it? It will be free I assume. Will i use it, no.
It really depends on the changes, I really don’t see a need for a new browser, if it speeds up 56K then yeah, I will.
no, it won’t
it will have new features, and it fixes several bugs that are annoying to web developers
new features:
tabs
“phishing” detector [they seem to have a blacklist and whitelist they maintain]
new security features
did I mention tabs?
fixes:
css 1 box model
css 2 selectors like the child selector and + selector
css 3 attribute selectors are implemented [though input[type=“button”] doesn’t work… weird]
I’m already beta 2 now on all of the machines that can except my work machine.
AND YOU USERS… IF YOU DON’T UPGRADE MY SITES NOT WORKING IS YOUR PROBLEM
[IE 7 should have come out two years ago]
IE7 will only be released with Windows Vista not before, anyhow it still leaks like sieve and does not comply with CSS standards
“phishing” detector [they seem to have a blacklist and whitelist they maintain]
I find that very frightening, what if they blacklist Blender or GIMP :o
If using IE doesn’t frighten you already, you have a problem.
IE? I can’t remember what it is. I have a vague memory of some crappy program that i never used for a long time…
There is no way I’m gonna pay for IE. Especially with mozilla firefox around
But why would they do that?

Well, if they buy a 3D program, or decide that Gimp is providing too much competion for their “Acrylic” project, if that ever comes out…

I think that even MS would fear the backlash they would get if they started blacklisting competitors.
The scary thing is that they could blacklist nearly all open source projects. It would be alot but if it stopped there users from being able to get the software and force them to buy thiers then they will probably give it a half arsed attempt.
What worries me is that most folk dont even know what a web browser is. :o
I asked 3 folk in my class and each replied, “google… is that a web browser?”
Seriously no joke…
could be worse. My housemate refuses to install microsoft’s security updates. And she’s an IE user. I tried to explain to her-but apparently security updates actually break your PC. %|
a warning popps up if it isn’t shure. When I tried elysiun a few weeks ago on a vista 5308 box it warned me that it wasn’t sure, and I could tell it “no, this isn’t a phishing site” or even “I, as the admin of elysiun declare this site legit dude!!!” [I chose the former].
microsoft would have some really horrible PR if they mess it up, this isn’t something I would expect large issues from microsoft on. Microsoft isn’t known for blatantly malacious things, just oversights that cause huge problems when exploited by others. This may be no exception from the latter.
Some people I know seem to think that the desktop is their “website.”

ARRRGH!!! MAKE IT STOP!!! PLEEEEEEEEASE!!! FOR GOD’S SAKE, MAKE IT STOP!!!
whimpers
I know! I’ll just run away and hide… cd /home/1Samildanach/.undermybed/
I bet MS is making several old bugs features now…
I prefer MSN Explorer over IE, and Mozilla Firefox. So I may not download it, but the rest of my family, I just don’t know…
Ahahahahaha
This might change your mind.
That wasnt very impressive to behonest. The tour was boring and the new features arent very new.
