Internet Issues

Hello everyone, I have some questions about some things that apear on my internet pages, like on pretty much every page that opens there is a word on the screen that when the mouse hovers over it for a sec it pulls up a little window that will advertise something related to the word, and its really annoying, I was wondering if this is just something that internet explorer has started doing, or if its something else, because I would like to not have this anymore. Thanks for any help.

Yeah, I started noticing those not too long ago. Those are called in-text ads (just googled it  ). Companies like Kontera pay websites to put them in their text, just like Google Ad-Sense.

Just try to avoid hovering over underlined words on a page. Unless you really like a website. In which case I would suggest supporting them by interacting with advertisements. Pay-per-click is a great way for web users to democratically and financially support their favorite websites! (Not just if you’re interested in the ad, but if you like the site and want to reward its creators  )

hmm, I don’t get that in Chrome, nor in Firefox if I remember correctly…that is, unless Firefox has changed since I last used it :expressionless: I switched to Google Chrome a while back…

maybe there’s an option somewhere to de-activate the linking function? I don’t use IE though (and I haven’t in a long time) so I wouldn’t be sure where to find it… :o

lol, I’m not helping much, am I? :stuck_out_tongue:
