Hi all,
I really need to add Blender to my tool kit. I’m an experienced 3D artist - C4D, Houdini, plus other poly and nurbs modelling tools, so I’m looking for a learning route that will get me up and running with Blender pretty quickly. The priority for the moment is just model-texture-light-render to generate stills.
Recommendations for a learning course / channel that might suit?
You can look at CG cookie, and eventually blender studio…
Probably there are beginners channel to help get you started, I think you still might need those at least for the bare basics an from there you can move quickly to the advanced stuff !
I haven’t done this course, and I don’t know how up to date it is, but back when I was making the transition from 3dsMax to Blender I did some of Chris’ modeling tutorials to get up to speed. I would highly recommend you check all the courses on his site.
I just found this one:
I know nothing about School of Motion, but based on their youtube channel they seem to have a pretty good understanding of both programs, so that might be a good starting point.
Check out Blender Secrets.

He has these very short but compact videos (tons of them) to all sorts of topics.
Keep in mind that there have been some fundamental changes in 4+ series particularly after 4.4.
Many of them with animation which won’t affect you. But be aware of old tutorials before 4.0.
Definately can not skip the extensions page:
This one is a must if you come from other modeling packages that have non-destructive primitive tools.
And another:
And so many more…
Thanks guys - I appreciate the suggestions and will give all of these a look! Very helpful.
For me, I think the practical route would be the quickest. When I took tutorials for blender vs when I started doing projects, the latter was the fastest. Since you know c4d, how about you transcribe a project? like build a c4d project from scratch in blender? I think this could be quicker
