Hello everybody!
My name is Robin Kraak, 22 years old and live in The Netherlands, Europe.
I first layed eyes on Blender when it was bundled with DIV Gamestudio here in Holland, but I could not work with it at all.
The interface completely confused me and it did not take long for it to end in my rather large pile of old/unused programs. The documentation at that time was scarce and incomplete as well as the lack of decent tutorials or even websites in general.
DIV Gamestudio itself soon became a dissapointment at itself; due to delayed release dates here in Holland the package actually never caught up with the latest standards at that time. Only an 8bit game environment with only 256 colors was available if I am right.
I still followed the game creation scene and tried trial versions of Darkbasic and 3D Gamestudio A5 (the Acknex engine).
Darkbasic caught my attention seriously due to the fact that I already had produced some small projects in QBasic when I was little and many things I recognised again in Darkbasic, but this time everything was tailored for gamecreation already!
I did not take long for me to decide on buying Darkbasic Professional when it came out a year ago and I am now working on some nice projects within this game creation world…
Coding is one thing, but to have a truely custom game I would also have to model (simple) models for my games.
This is where a whole new issue arose…
I tried my hands on different programs, but then for some strange reason I checked on Blender again… and what did I find?!
What an enormous transformation Blender has gone through for the better! I was totally stunned by the size of the current community, plugins available and even more so: tutorials available!
So here I am, wandering again on the paths of Blender and in a way rejoining where I once left.
