Introduction To The Data API

Hi. I’m Luke and I work as a lead technical artist in games. I’ve been using Blender since the 2.48 days, and professionally as my tool of choice for the past 9 years. I’ve noticed kind of a gap in content for entry-level content for TAs and Pipeline designers switching to Blender, or artists looking to take the next step towards becoming power-users.

I’ve created things like the OpenVAT extension, countless headless rendering systems, deep pipelines for game-art and custom studio builds. But before i get to the cool stuff, I wanted to explain the basics in-depth. Not navigation or where buttons are - but the under-the-hood basics of data, context and operators.

This is my first video in hopefully what will become a large bank of content exploring accessible deep dives into some of the quirks that make Blender hard to grasp when you have baseline knowledge in other software (or just want to get a deeper understanding of the software).
