Invaded (Inspired scene)

Here is a scene I’ve been working on the last days, It was inspired by the 2D artwork of Simon Stalenhag

This is the 2D:

Any comment is well received, thanks for watching.

Nice foliage and road. The monsters should have a bit more wet or translucent skin - be more ‘organic’. Now they’re looking like made from plastic. You could also play a little more with light. You have center composition so vignette or a bit more light in the middle seems to be a good idea. I would also play a bit with colours (more orange) but it’s more taste depending, I suppose.

Hi,

Your render is really good! If you want to improve it, maybe try to make all the trees look kind of the same: we can see that in the background, you may have used a picture, and the problem with it is that we can see the difference with the trees you’ve put in the foreground. There has to be a common thing between all the trees, whether it is the colors, or the species.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for your analysis, I’ll be checking that on the near future because there are a lot of things to improve next year.

Trees were a real problem because I had to re-touch them manually, and because of the time I left some other things, maybe a better time management will be necessary. Thanks for the feedback.
Here’s a close up to the scene.

Almost perfect recreation of the original drawing! Just add some glossyness to the creature’s skin like the previous commenter said, to make them more organic. And I would suggest veering a little from the drawing and put a light simulating the sun that is slightly behind the trees but above them and out of the scene. If you could get some shadows from the trees on to the road towards the camera that would greatly increase the overall look of the scene. Use a sun light and have it be your only light source. Put it at like a 150 degree angle (180 being directly straight up) and the shadows it provides should look quite nice
