invisble objects

hi there

My problem is, that I want to create invisible objects which covers objects behind them.
With other words, I want to have an object which ist physical but not visible therewith a sphere is covered when its rolling behind them.
I tried it with the alpha channel and the Ztransp option and no success.
Maybe somebody can help me.

many thanks up front

Hmm… well invisible is easy. Just turn off the render option next to the object in the outliner. Having an “invisible” object “cover” another is much harder if I understand you right, as obviously invisible objects are see-through and thus don’t block view of anything.

Can you explain more what it is you’re trying to do?

i build a scene like this one

http://www.weirdhat.com/blender/compositing2/

but in my picture are some objects like a vase. I build a dummy object which represents the vase in the picture
(I positioned it at the same place) so it can reflect rollings spheres. But some sphere doesn’t reflect and roll behind this vase.
When I now set my dummy-vase as invisible I dont see it in the render picture/movie (thats what I want) but I see the rolling spheres behind the vase. And thats the problem.
It should to appear that the sphere roll behind the vase in the real picture.

I dont know if you understand what I want to do, its really hard to describe

My last reply wasnt posted so I’ll try to decribe it again

I followed this tutorial: http://www.weirdhat.com/blender/compositing2/
and modified it a little.
My real picture contain a vase and some spheres which rolling over a desk. My target is to position a dummy-object who represents the vase on the picture so that the spheres can clash with it or are covered when they rolling behind the vase.
The problem is that this dummy-object shall not be seen in my rendered movie.
What can I do???
