IPO's for Dupliverted particles objects...

Hi All

I think I’ve found a question that is at least partly difficult to answer, although the answer is probably ‘NO’!

Is there a way of making the IPO curves of duplivertsed particle objects act the same way as particle IPO’s: that is, map 100 frames to the whole life of the particle/object instead of to 100 frames of animation???

This would be WAY COOL if it could be done!

Cheers
DT.

Particle life is measured in frames so they’re the same thing. But you can set the OffSet value of the particles. Not sure if that answers anything because your question is rather vague.

OK, I have a habit of getting off-travk and posting vague questions…c
to better explain:
When you set IPO’s for, say, a particle material, and it changes from green to red at frame 50, then it will change colour half-way through the particles life. I was sceptical about this, but I tested it and it works!

If you do that for the material on an object which has been dupliverted to a particle system, it will change a frame 50, regardless of the life of the particles.

I want to be able to do the first one on the dupliverted oblects?

what does particle offset do?

hope that clears it up a bit!

Cheers
DT

It offsets the StartTime of the Particle stream, so it has nothing to do with what you want. But you can use a texture as shown here:

http://www.sammyg.us/upload/data/Fligh.dup.col.blend

(Don’t worry about the IPO’s on the particle system. This blend has some stuff in it that was in another file)

Add a Blend Texture to the object that will be dupliverted (cube). Add an Empty Object. In the Mapto tab of the cube map it to Object and write in the name of the empty. Now move that empty around, scale it and render at different frames.
