Iptic?

Hello, I have been using Blender as a hobby for quite a few years now,
I am just wondering where all these people get iptic websites.
I see that they can post pictures easily and I cant find anywhere to get a good site.
How can I go about getting an iptic account?
Is there any way? Or will I never be able to show my work with ease? :frowning:

Thanks to anyone that replies,
-Boit

iptic belongs to acasto. he has offered free 50mg sites to blender users to showcase their work.

private message acasto or email him at
adam @iptic.com

yeah, acasto’s really cool for offering free space. it makes me feel so guilty for having not even put up an actual site. i gotta stop procrastinating :expressionless:

i havent seen acasto lately and i pmed him a bit ago but no answer… anyone know the scoop on his whereabouts? =(

easy posting of images and animations can be done in my forums.

  • sigh * unfortunatly the idea dosn’t seem to be catching on nearly as much as I would have though.

has anyone seen acasto lately?
I tried to email him and his server said there was no such user.

'Edit" Never mind, I finally got through. He is okay and doing fine, he just has been busy lately.

stephen2002, i think your forums aren’t so popular because ppl want to post some info about themselves too, like in a regular website. It’s cool for posting a movie or pictures, but will everyone be able to see it? How can we make a gallery on your forums? I mean, if I want to showcase all my work, I’ll want a n Iptic account to make a web page.
btw, I’d like an Iptic account too. Any way I can get one in the present condition?

adyus: hurm…intresting point. So you think that if I set it up more to be a gallery type situation where you can upload files (say 50-100MB worth) as well as have a bio, links and such it might catch on a bit more? I would also probably allow direct linking of files.

I want to stay away from offering straight up web hosting, but I would be willing to set it up differently than it is now…so it is still more of a community site but more like structured web hosting.

stephen2002, that is a great idea! I’d like to be the first to join if you’d be so kind…although I’ll stick to my idea of making a site of my own (even if I’d be posting all the pics twice in your gallery) for the simple reason that it makes you somebody. Instead of having stuff hosted, you can say you made the page design yourself, you made the links, etc, etc. I think your idea is the best thing you could do outside of actually offering web page hosting.

I see what you mean about why you would want to make your own site. I suppose that will probably be the case with most of the CG people as most of us are computer geeks in general. However, I really don’t want my site to turn into yet another web hosting service. And some people would rather just have a simpler way than trying to deal with the FTP and HTML…based off of the way their sites look.

I’ll look into putting the gallery setup in motion. Might take a few months to get it all coded, I am working on other things at the moment.

have you seen this setup? it has beeen working fine for gimp users for a long time.

no, I had not seen this. That is the kind of thing that I would like to implement.
