Iron Sky Walkyr

Been working on this one for quite some time now. It probably won’t turn out to be an exact copy of the one used in the film but hopefully not too far off.

If anyone knowns the dimensions of the ufo that will be helpful as I want to have it appear in a dogfight with another well known spaceship. Also any info on the main entrance door position and where the landing gear is situated will be helpful too.

All comments and thoughts are welcome. Thanks for looking.

This model looks great. I don’t know what movie it’s from, because I do not watch TV. But I do like the design of this UFO.
Your model of it looks good. Looks just like something the army would have built.

Thanks. The UFO is from the movie Iron Sky, and it would have been built for the army as the story centres around a military moon base.
What I like about the design is the way it takes it’s inspiration from WWII era vehicles even though it is a much more modern vessel.

NOw you need to make the blimp mothership and then the USA’s USS Bush (if I recall correctly :))

That movie was so cool, and second one comming out next year

Yeah, I think the blimp mothership and the USA ship would both be good projects. Might have a go at them after I finish this one.

Glad to hear the second film is due to be released next year. The original is cool and has a great space battle in it, I also love it when the UFOs attack Earth.

Should have an update on this in a day or so. I have been busy with the rivet gun and adding some other small bits and bobs.

To me the best scene was when the USA ship opened up it’s arsenal, and that Rail-gun… DAM that was so cool.

Then the showing of the remaining earth fleet was also cool. Especially seeing the TARDIS

Okay, dammit, I had no idea the Tardis was in the film, I missed that one. I’ve seen the film twice and will have to watch it again just to spot the old call box. Cheers for the heads up on that. :sunglasses:

This is where I’m at with the old UFO. Added quite a lot of small detail like the rivets, steps, signal lights. Some of the extra stuff is around the engine so not visible from this angle.
I have still to do the landing gear but due to lack of reference images I just don’t know where it goes or how it looks.

Comments are most welcome, thanks for looking.

Nice progress

I do recall that there was only one scene with the engineer fixing the landing gear before it took of for earth… but yeah, don’t recall much about its overall layout.

Have you considered writing to the Iron Sky team and asking for some reference material?

Can’t access the site (most sites locked at work)

but seems google has some undershots, still no direct location of the landing system… :frowning:

Most point to : ironskyinvasion.com (which again can’t access) though the low res pictures do indiciate 3 hatches under he body where landing pads might be.

Side note, when googling Iron Sky Walkyr, your renders from this site pop up quite high  Nice

Also

www.reteedigital.com seems to have good renders of the legs… unsure of their accuracy. Will look for more when i get home

Thanks for the links and info, Grzesiek, it’s much appreciated.

The renders on the legs are real good and I would assume pretty accurate as the guy at that site worked on the models for the movie. I think I will write to him and see if he has any info on the dimensions and position of the landing gear.

To what I recall, the Walkyr is 50 meters longs according to the Iron Sky Fandom Wiki.

Thanks for the info, it’s much appreciated, and welcome to the forum.
