Is EEVEE a replacement for Cycles?

It wont happend.
Raytracing > Rasterisation

The reason why we bother at all with those hacks like fake reflections, static/cached lightning with realtime engines is that we don’t have enough computing power. Like 1000 times to slow.
If we only had enough computation power we would only use some king of ray(path)tracing engines,

I think this is the wrong way of looking at things, not everything coming out of an engine like Eevee will look as good as a path tracer like Cycles but it can look exceptionally close to the point that if you don’t have two renders to make a side to side comparison with it can be difficult to say what come out of what.

Real time render engines are have been blurring the lines between them and off line render engines for some time now to the point that you are good examples of shots from some movies been rendered in them. I remember on cgtalk some technical artists talking of using cryengine to render some shots in a big budget movie and this was some years back.

So I think it’s better to think of Eevee as a full on render engine that should be good enough to render all or some of the shots in a project depending on what you need.

Did you look at the example for advertisment videos I mentioned above? Why do you think that EEVEE would not be sufficient for these types of videos?

And that’s only the warm up. Took Cycles years to get to the level it is now. We should not forget the huge problem with noise Cycle had until very recently which was improved considerably with the addition of denoiser.

Give Eevee 5 years and it will fly so high , like an eagle in they sky…

not saying it won’t be great, but they’re based on different uses and concepts.

Sure, for SOME stuff you could print an EEVEE still and send to the client if it’s a fast and cheap job, but the more complex detailed the scene becomes, more the rendering “shortcuts” will appear. Just like even the most realistic video game out there still shows some flaws here and there because it was meant for speed over precision.

Give each thing its own value and use according to your need

So I should stick with Cycles Renderer then when using Armory if I want to use emissions property?

Are you talking about Eevee how it lacks accuracy of the simulation of light bounces? As the materials can’t seem to reflect the light off from an object from another object that uses emissions materialEevee renderer?

Is a sedan a replacement for a pickup truck? It can be for some tasks, but not for others. They can both do the same basic things but each have a different focus and trade offs.
