Is it kosher to...?

Hello, I’m new to Blender, but have been working with another 3D program (Anim8or) for quite awhile. I am slow to change, and there are features of Anim8or that I am quite fond of, and not certain as to whether I wish to turn away from by taking on Blender. Mainly, I am very familiar with Anim8or’s basic means of modeling.

As for Blender, I would basically like to take on Blender for working from the point of texturing, material applications, etc, and on through its ways of animation, game construction and the works.

Would I be viewed as some sort of low-life half-breed outcast if I were to present works that I began in Anim8or, but have developed further, perfected and brought to completion in Blender?

…Yes, the can of “Spork” (Spiked Pork) on my avatar was modeled completely in Anim8or, with my creating its texture using GIMP… As pork isn’t kosher, so I figured the underlying humor of posting an Anim8or-avatar would be appropriate to my situation and sense of humor. “Spork, America’s OTHER pink meat…”

I don’t think you’d be considered an outcast, as you’re not the only one who started 3D using Anim8or (I haven’t, but others have)

It’d be okay to do your modeling in Anim8or, but I think you may eventually want to switch to an all Blender workflow since you then won’t need to mess with exporters.

Arik, they let me in, and I’ve barely mastered paper and crayons. We even have a few maya and 3dmax users , and you can’t get more dark side than that… So anim8or, no problem…

P.S. Nice avatar… Now lets see you do it in Blender.

Whoah! Hey now, where can I get a tutorial on those! You might be onto something!

Thanks for the feedback

Not a chance. Any good artist has more then ONE tool in their tool-box, and knowing more than one tool allows you to select what is most appropriate for the job. There are others here that use stuff ranging from ZBrush, Maya, Poser/Daz, CAD, etc… It is Kosher and don’t let the die-hards frighten you.

Your welcome.

Remember, If it works use it… As long as your happy with the result, then its fine…:D:D

Actually, for my porpoises, I need to find something that’ll produce results that OTHERS will be drawn to… a fairly in-depth game I’ve had outlined for the last few years, so, I have to go through and make sure I’m going the right directions in pursuing what I want and need.

I actually started with Anim8or in 2005 when I began 3D. I then moved onto Max for work, later Maya. Now I use Blender for many things.

I’m sure you’ll like it once you get going.

The tools one choose is not as important as the results.

Unless the company you choose to work for needs you to use a specific tool, then you best learn that.
