Is it normal for mist intensity to change mist starting position?

I was testing the new mist control through python and found out mistIntensity will overwrite my mist starting position, at value 1 the mist is right in front of me, despite setting the distance 100 bu or further away with mistStart, is this normal?

Unlike how the lamp’s color and energy can be separately controlled, I find that it’s now pretty awkward to control the mist color and its intensity

Also changing between scenes in viewport will undo any changes made to the mist’s horizon color in properties, not that it has any lasting effect on python to update it’s color but I think its worth mentioning
