Is it possible to assign iduvidual vertices to a bone?

I use blender to make 3D minecraft animations in my spare time but the one thing that has been bugging me for a while is that i have to use other objects to act as the bottom lip, the top lip, the bottom teeth, etc. And this often causes some mesh errors during the rendering process…

So I was wondering if you can assign individual vertices of a mesh to a bone… that way i can have vertices for the face and have each part set to a particular bone… PLUS i could set the bones poses so i don’t need to constantly change the positions of the face which will make it much easier when animating…

This would also help with a lot of other things… so is this possible?

Create a vertex group with the name of the bone and then assign the affected vertices to that group
In the armature modifier ensure you have enabled the ‘Vertex Groups’ option.
