I tried to google it but found nothing about it.
We are looking for a way to mark frames via names for an exporter
so we do not need to enter the changing frame number but can simply
use bookmarks which will in each blender file maybe be at a different
frame number.
Inside the curve IPO editor is something like markers. can those be accessed via python?

You are probably thinking of the timeline editor ( seperate window ). I don’t know if that can be exported or not though.
