Is it possible to map a video of a face onto a 3d head in Blender?

Sorry for the noob question. I am very new to Blender. Looking through the forum I see it is possible to map video to a flat plane or apply a video as an abstract texture to a curved surface. However, I am not sure if it is possible to accurately map a video of a face onto a 3d model of a head for example. I have used video projection mapping onto a sculpture in the “real world” with good results. I have now recreated the same sculpture as a virtual 3d model. What I want to do is import the obj file into Blender and apply the video as a texture to make the model ‘come alive’. In After Effects there is a possiblity to ‘project’ a video layer onto 3d surfaces but unfortunately the software doesn’t handle proper 3d even when importing stuff via the built in cinema4d. Is this even possible in Blender? Does anyone know any tutorials that can point me in the right direction? The only videos I have found are quite generic dealing with adding a video onto a flat plane in a 3d scene. Thanks for any pointers and for the great community here
