Is there a matrix of all the texture combinations

I did a search but didn’t have any luck. Probably my syntax. Do you know of any matrix with possible combinations of using the different option for the textures?

I assume it would be pretty large.

Thanks very much.

What do you mean by matrix?

I wourld start computing one, but it would be is easier to compute pi. Quinzo’s has 18000 combinations of soft drink chips sub, so I’m thinking Blender Textures would be…let’s see, you have 10 interacting per material, two ways to mix each texture, 9 different mix modes, 13 aspects to apply to (Col, Nor, Spec…) some of those are tri-state, infinite number of size and offsets per texture, infinite colors (ok, well whatever 2^24-1 is), 6 sliders with infinite gradients per MapTo, 8 different MapInput…crank that through my factorial calculator…waiting…waiting…hmmm… ok, so if we printed that on 8x11 paper, 50 lines per page, 10 columns across…with graphic showing example…printed at 10 pages per minute…oh, wait. We’d have to go black and white, I dont have a color laser printer, so the quality would be crap. sorry, I can’t do it. Maybe Fligh has a better printer.

ROFL…Yeah, I forgot about all the sliders… ok so twice today I wasn’t thinking …but god it would be nice.

Frigh,
I was thinking of a matrix as in a table… 2 of these mixed with one of these gives this etc.

But that means that perhaps there are textures still undiscoverd!

Your little brain is frigh.

And what exactly would you do with that matrix…? You know, finding something in there might be just as complicated and time consuming as doing it from scratch…

That would mabye possible for the Puppet Master (if you’re referring to the GITS one) but not for us :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry about that. Yep its iti and it was.

Myke:

I’d use it of course!

Puppet Master (if you’re referring to the GITS one)
Wooooosh, right over my head. And referring to all the movies.

Well, it may be true using a matrix may be more difficult then starting from scratch. But with all the available options it would be nice to have a place to begin for NOOB like myself.

The naming convention doesnt really help me that much. For instance:

  • Voronoi This procedural has a nice cell like quality although through its settings it can be used to create anything from bubbles to stained-glass windows.

from the wiki.

I played with it for about 4 hours and couldnt get any bubbles. A matrix, would have helped.

You can always pm me if you have something more to say. Thanks for your concern.

bubbles…?

Hey there,

I’m not sure if the original author meant it this way with creating bubbles with voronoi texture:

You can use the default voronoi texture and then map it to material’s ‘normal’ channel (in ‘map to’ panel) You will of course have to increase the ‘Nor’ slider. It produces a kind of a bubble effect.

Thanks very much. I tried it, reminds me a some reptile’s skin. I never tried leaving it at the default.

You tease:D, just a pic, no .blend? I know, I will figure it out sooner than later.
