Is there a program besides blender built in texturing system

I just wanted to know if there was a seperate program that worked with blender that you could use for texturing.

I assume you mean free?

Art of Illusion (http://aoi.sourceforge.net) has a great texture editor and renderer but it has limited import/export options. You’d have to use a python script in blender. There aren’t many other good free texture editors.

you could always use Gimp amd create your own textures/

I think he means a 3d texture editor, as in something that lets you actually do the mapping or procedurals, not 2d creation of maps.

Hello

Do a search in the web for the excellent and gratis Lyth Unwrap
It’s a bit old (the new version is shareware) but very good

Texture plugins:

%<

How do you install those?

in the texture options theres a [Plugin] button click that and go to where ever you downloaded the plugin and well open that and wala you got plugins for new textures!

It would be nice if there were a plug in script for Raycer http://raycer.sourceforge.net/ Here’s a list of Freeware raytracers and 3d modeling application.

Hey…why isn’t Yafray on the list?

If by texturing you mean UV mapping, one of the best solutions is Wings3d. Simply export your model out of Blender as a .obj file (you’ll need a script) import it into Wings3D. Use Wing’s Excellent autouv feature and export an .obj back to Blender.

rhere you go.

this is the best .obj script i have used. it only works with 2.23 i think. there are some .obj scripts for 2.28 but i haven’t tried them. later
