Shader that is transparent and looks like a shadow? … yes, look into alpha masking
Didn’t D-Man get really close? I’ve seen something here, in this thread:
D-Man made a projected shadow shader (page 2 in that thread), but it’s a bit limited because the projected texture tiles infinitely. So instead of one shadow you get infinite amount of shadows of the same object. It works in the example he provided because the object which casts the shadow doesn’t move. Of course it’s better to bake static shadows to lightmap, but this shader allows light source movement (= realtime shadow deformation). Anyway, it’s a step closer to full realtime shadows.
