I’m wondering if there is a way to use cages to ‘shrinkwrap’ clothing to a model. I’m trying to create a script that can fit a variety of clothing to various models, so I was thinking that I could use a cage to represent the surface of the skin. I could then bind the complex clothing mesh to this skin and then shrinkwrap the skin to the model.
I was hoping that I could use the MeshDeform modifier to do this, but I’ve discovered that that modifier only binds vertices within the cage volume, not outside of it. This won’t work for me, because the clothing is going to be outside of the skin. I was wondering if there was some other set up that would do something similar?
Well… there was/are attempts to recreate Shrinkwarp modifier with geometry nodes to make it more “controllable” maybe to shrink the part closer to teh body more…
shrink warp will ruin the mesh, ı got a technique for this, if bodies has same vertices, you can use shape key + surface deform combination, but there will be deformations needs to be editted manually, ı made an addon for myself, this procces known as " retargetting " ,
