Is there any way to turn an emitter on/off/on?

I have an emitter which we want to “pulse” during an animation. ie: emit for 1 second, stop, start again a couple seconds later. I thought I could just keyframe the Number of particles but thats not a keyframe’able value.

Other than having multiple overlapping copies of the emitter, is there an easier way?

Might be a dumb solution but you could try making several copies of the particle system and changing the start and end frames.

You can make it with Object Scale.
