Is this Oil crisis artificial? Are International Bansters to blame?

My gut feeling tells me this Oil crisis is artificial and the International banksters are to blame. I heard on the News Hour program last week that the banks are the ones who are jacking up the price of Oil.
Which is strange don’t you think when banks aren’t in the refinery industry at all, then why the heck are these greedy banksters buying up all the Oil. I think they are going to make Oil so expensive that we all end up in the dark ages. If that’s the case then man has never been free. :frowning:

My computer isn’t fast enough for Crysis. It’s ridiculus what kind of hardware they want for running that game. I’m 100% with you.

Well, the world’s oil consumption has not increased any more than usuall, which is around 1.5% annually. At the same time, OPEC, with Saudi Arabia in specific, have increased their oil supply in a bid to alleviate the high prices. Yet, the price is just continiously going up. Thus, to my mind, it is not a matter of demand (as in consumption) outstripping supply.
The US$ being weak, currently, the main currency in the international oil market, the price automatically goes up. To make matters worse, many big investment funds around the world seems to be buying oil as a hedge against the weak US$ and the inflation caused by it.
I don’t think it is as simple as to just blame the international banksters. George W. Bush is not a banker.

Ebow3d, you’re right Bush is not a Banker, but he is an Oil man. Last week, when a house committee said that the Oil should be regulated, and by that I mean that all the Banksters kicked out of the Oil market, Bush replied that there was nothing wrong with the high price of Oil. Without the Banksters in the Oil market, Oil should fall back to $49 a barrel.
BigBad you funny guy, but I’m glad you agree with me.

I think this Oil crisis is a part of a multi prong attack on all the peoples of the world. It’s all about control over you. I have a list, any guesses as to what’s on the list? :eyebrowlift2:

Well I have a strong opinion about this particular subject and with your express permission or not, I shall not get into the fray because the controversial contents of what I may or may not put down could or not could a chain reaction. Instead I must leave now and let this thread run it’s own course. I may ofcourse come in, or not come again should I decide to put something down.

The oil price will fall again in a year or two’s time, just as soon as the US$ starts gaining again.
A situation like this obviously gets all the green environmentalists going about the use of fossil fuels. However the fact is, the world has a proven supply of oil for at least another century.
Not that I think an alternative to fossil fuel would be a waste of time here. In fact, a good spin-off to the current oil crisis is increased research and development of alternative (green) fuel.
In fact, the use of fossil fuels have been tremendiously usefull for mankind’s development in the last two or so centuries. But it does have its limitations, and its time we move on now.

I think there is a perfect storm. On the one hand you have the devaluing US$ as noted, so naturatly the price will rise. Second you have (had) increasing demand, especially from China. Third, you have diminishing supply - Mother earth is not making any more of it, and the big Mexico well is going dry, as is all others (Google “peak oil”). Fourth, you have global competition for the same product from a limited supplier base. Fifth, you have a commodity that does not have an easy alternative to use as a substitute. Sixth, I call it greed, OPEC would call it long-term capital planning. Put it this way, lets say you owned a lot of land that was sand and oil, and you knew you had 6 million gallons of the black goo. Ah, so you sell the first million gallons for a few bucks, and everyone gets rich and you live high. Then you sell the second and the third and it hits you, hey, I’ve sold off half of everything and anything that I have of value…EVER. I’d better make sure I not only have enough to live high off of, but also my children. So you jack up the price and sell a million more. Then you see the value of those dollars declining, and you plan out for your grandchildren, and their children (the 100 year plan) and compute that the fifth million gallons…you’d better fetch the highest price you can.
The last million, you save for yourself. As you approach the end, the price rises exponentially. Peak Oil? yes. Peak Prices? I don’t think we are anywhere near that yet. Ask me again in five years, because some people are saying we have about 8-10 year’s supply left.

Humankind may has enough oilfor a century but as the greenhouse effect augments there won’t be any people in 100 years.Let’s stop consuming oil and turn to sun, wind and waves…

We have a global crisis on our hands, caused by Oil.
The higher the price, the less people use.
If we use less oil, we might last another thousand years and more
on this planet, without being fried by global warming.

Lets use clean energy ONLY.
it works on samsø

I read somewhere that there was a huge fuel cell breakthrough in Japan and throws the door wide open for long range fuel cell cars.

Oil can take a hike, lets attach windmills to our vehicles.

The world’s oil consumption increases by about 1.5% per year. Many countries like Saudi Arabia is still not pumping at full capacity, ie: they are able to increase daily production. However, the oil price has more than doubled in the last year
How can it be then that the price is increasing due to diminishing supplies?
Some statistics:
world reserves
world consumption 2008
world consumption 2001

IMO end the war and get rid of or at least fix up the Federal Reserve before messing with oil bankers. Oil should be regulated…? By who, the government? AKA bankers and oil men

Slightly off-topic, but sometimes I am amazed that mankind have not yet find an effective way to harness the sun’s enourmous amount of energy.

Um, like oil?
Oil is stored solar energy, after all.
One way or another, ALL our energy came from the sun, with nuclear fission being the exception.

We just have to find a way of using the sun’s energy at a slower rate than it is delivered to us, and without so much wastage.

Yeh freen has it right, nearly all of our energy is from the sun, no matter how indirectly.

And dont get me started on Fusion. I dont want to get this thread more offtopic
Not to mention Solar energy of course…

I think the oil crisis is only just beginning, theres nothing artificial about it. Although the biggest crisis at the moment is how much it costs! Geez… Its out of control.

Think about it this way. If the price of oil is pushed to $300 a barrel soon, alternative energy technologies will become an economic necessity. Someone said on here that they were astonished or something or another about man not harnessing all of the sun’s energy. The reason for that is money. Pure economics. So all these fancy pants college grads put their efforts into “fueling” the fuel industry as opposed to finding alternatives to it.

i think we have the technology to produce fully electric vehicles, the only problem with that is it wipes out a billion(ish)-dollar industry.

Just my two cents agree if you wish.

The banks are not driving up the price of oil. Hell noone is. But the governement (all not just the US) would LOVE you to think they are raising the price.

The amount of money you could buy a new car with in the 80’s wouldn’t get you a decent used car now. So it’d be incorrect thinking to think that anything other merchandise would be different. Whats the common denominator for EVERYTHING you buy? Paper money. FAKE paper money. Little sheets of IOU’s with 1, 5, 10, 20, and 100’s printed all over them. The value of actual money (silver, gold, precious stones…you get the picture) doesn’t really flucuate to much unless there is a crysis of some kind that causes people to start buying tons of it in order to invest (so that thier money doesn’t lose value)…the value of paper money and the coins your governements make changes with how much is in circulation (which is why they burn millions of dollars a day). This is also why the US stopped making coins with tons of silver in it…the value of the silver outwieghed the value of the coin which made making the coins pointless, so they lowered the amount of silver in the coins. Smart huh? Yeah…for them. But for you, you still get a piece of paper that has been coloured and given a value that is (in the US as of now) dependant on the value of gold. They used to have silver certificates for money, but now they use gold cirtificates.

This is all my view of what I’ve read. None is completely false, but I’m sure I’ve used “strong” wording. For an ‘unbiased’ look into it, just research the price of silver or gold thru the years and compare it with the price of everything else. Just to give you an example, that .18 cents you could buy an ounce of silver with back in the early 1900’s will still get you an ounce of silver today…but that .18 cents from back in 1900 is now more like $15 (these numbers aren’t historically correct because i cant find the papers now, but they do give you an idea into exactly what is going on)

So you see the price of oil hasn’t really changed. The value of your paper money has.

GM is doing a pretty good job of that on their own

iirc we got rid of the gold standard a long time ago so now they indeed are just pieces of paper which represent nothing

Well I didn’t know we did away with with the gold standard. I’m sure, at least I’d assume, they have to tie the value of the paper to SOMETHING…right??? Otherwise who would work 8+ hours a day for sheets of paper that have no trade value. If I’m not mistaken the value of US money is directly tied to the amount of gold we have in fort knox…but then again I didn’t know we did away with the gold certificates.

Further info on our getting rid of the gold certificates would be greatly appreciated…I’m researching thru google now lol.

edit-2Thru the wiki I’ve read nothing of a newer standard than the gold certificate.

called the place where i buy my silver and gold and they started talking to me about a buying platinum. I’ve also seen one $100 platinum eagle, so I’m assuming that since it’s in circulation (i’m not %100 on this though) that platinum may be the new standard. However I can’t shake the notion that the commpany jusst wanted me to buy more metal lol Still looking for more info.
