In this link the artist models the hair with planes, and somehow the hair particles just follow the planes. It requires no textures, looks awesome and makes styling a bit easier. Is it possible to do in Blender? If so how can I attach hair particles to planes so they will follow them? It seems as if the planes can be animated later and the hair still follows.
There’s mention of a script in the discussion, so I imagine that it’s a custom MEL implementation. It’s a very innovative technique, obviously very useful, so it would be interesting to see if a similar script could be done in BPython. It would take in-depth knowledge of the particle hair system in terms of strand characterization, but given that they are essentially a form of curve, I see no reason that it would be completely unfeasible.
