The huts look out of scale to me. they are far too big. The terrain contours suggest mountains, so the huts should be just specks unless you come in for a close up view. My suggestion would be to come down to a more flat view, add some detail in the form of palmtrees or something, and then settle the huts in, with the mountainous contours providing the background.
Where the huck do you see futs?

Right in the middle.
Can’t see huts, but the iland shape is pretty nice. As for the ocean, tone the bump down wee bit, actually pretty much, the texture is far too hard.
one crit the bump map for the water doesnt look like water. it needs a lot of work maybe you turn down the nor in the material window or something.
thx for the tips, will update asap
edit (5 minutes later): Here´s a shot with a different bump:
I think from that kind of height, you wouldn’t really see any “bump” to the water.
You might notice some breaking up of the suns glare in the water,
try scaling your bump map way down!
change the bump back, and add mist, go into edit mode, and smoothe out the island just a tad
those aren’t huts those are MOLE PEOPLE! :o
the bump map on the water looks alot better…
Actually, the new bump map looks horrible, as the waves are either 100 meters high, or the island is 10 cm in size.
Search google for some images of islands
Yup he’s just full of sunshine,…say, intrr, why don’t you put something up? I’m sure we’re all quite curious by now as to what you are capable of, having cast your dispersions so liberally about and all.
I AM full of sunshine, don’t you notice from the amount of smilies I use?
Hmmm… put something up… IF I put something up now, you WILL hate it anyway, no matter how good or bad it is Well, here is a random pick
of what I found in the various web directories
I agree it’s not all HARDCORE COMPLETELY 3l33T, but well, I can’t / don’t want to post my animation work
I’m not wanting to be arrogant or anything, I’m just HONEST, and I’m used to a level of quality just a tiny bit higher than others, that’s why I don’t fall into a “WOAHHHHHHHHH! OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH! EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” delirium at anything I see
I think you are just bitter because you have not recieved what you would consider your alloted dose of recognition for your work on the env mapping. Also, I saw the bridge one earlier, and commented that your trees do not obey the laws of gravity. Such an obvious thing to some, but apparently gravity doesn’t fit into your formula for quality? Not trying to be an ass,…just trying to point out that an eye for lighting does not in itself make you cock of the walk. Come down to earth and hang with us mere mortals why don’t you?
Intrr,
I like you, and from our occaisional talks in #BlenderChat I think your a great guy – however:
Those images can only be described as “Average” at best.
Scorpy:
Look at this file, it may help you with the water.

M@dcow:
Sorry, then you are biased against me. Look at the “average” quality of the postings on this forum, and compare them to these images, and then re-think your understanding of “average”
No offense intended whatsoever…
I agree that in the CGTalk forum context, they would be average.
Intrr, even if you are a total genius, it still doesn’t justify you crapping all over peoples work. Instead of saying ‘that’s horrible’, why not provide some constructive critisism instead, and perhaps some encouragement as well?
Scorpy:
The waves are far too big. The island is supposed to be a few hundred meters in size, and a few meters in height, so according to your waves, they suggest that they are several meters high and hundreds of meters “long”, which is probably not what you meant.
I encourage you to decrease their size (in all axes), after having viewed a reference image of an island.
Better?
