I think that sounds worlds better.
I want to say the island is not that bad. I like the idea. The size of the water texture decides the scale of the water. If you increase it you can gett the water to a good scale. One thing that would be a good idea is a texture map for the island itself. Your using a what looks like a preset and you can but landforms aren’t always that even. You need some rock and some different grasses on the island and maybe a beach around it. This is important. Those smaller sections could probably do with a seperation from the island itself. Erosion would probably make that seperation. You could put in a bridge or something to connect them.
A note on the water if you use a little blue it will look more like a tropical island.

Thx for all the comments, i wil work on it
update:
i made a water texture with photoshop, and scaled down the mesh of the water. i think it looks better, but still no match for the one m@dcow posted…
Well, we can’t all be madcow. I have not done much water, but I have a couple of suggestions. 1: give the water layer a transparency, and duplicate it a couple of times putting each layer beneath the next, and 2, put a moon in the sky. I don’t know how good my water trick is, but maybe madcow will have some input. I would surely like to hear any advice he may have.
Ok, 2 questions…
How the hell do i make a moon(maybe a tutorial)
How do i change the background, because i´m going to make my own stars.
For the moon:
Download the moon texture
http://www.oera.net/How2/TextureMaps2.htm
Make a sphere and use the texture as image map.
Placing and lighting, that’s it.
For the background:
In world buttons use an image texture (paper-button, Hori, ZenUp)
Google for some background pics if you don’t have one or don’t want to make one.
i think that could be also a green lump swimming on the water.
more detail on the island would help you.
the water looks a little bit flat. is there a bump map on it?
try to use a cloud texture, subdivide your plane in small pieces, go in edit mode, select all vertices and press the noise button. so you get a nice ripple-effect.
@intrr
i think its wrong to post your work in this thread?
I think its wrong for Intrr and M@dcow to post their work in this thread. I always get very mad when someone does that to me.
Hey intrr, your stuff looks fantastic. No kidding.
But desoto’s right, you have no right to put your stuff in other people’s threads. It makes them feel bad. And scorpy, the island is pretty good.
STOP POKING ME!
just kidding. 8)
i think it needs some serious mist-
@ lemmy: THX
@ the others: Well, it still is wip. And i don´t work much more than an hour a day on it, so it could very well be that it looks like a green lump in water. I´m just wondering how i would get the material of the beach and the material of the inner land to blend together. otherwise i get a real bad jaggy edge arund the beach.
