Isolate Select

Local view like a Isolate select of Maya or 3ds Max.

Repeat Local view any number of times.
The view point of view does not change.
It will be useful when you want to edit a specific object with a complicated scene.

Up / Down the Isolation Level

You can undo the separated display state performed by the add-on.

  • You have the option to return to the global view if the isolation level is low enough

What’s a local view?

isolate_select_hide

The local view is an individual display state different from the non-display state or viewport display state.
Temporarily display an isolated image without changing the display state on the data.
Add-ons can repeat a local view and always include lights and objects from a specified collection.

Option

Hide unselected mesh

Added an option to hide the unselected mesh in edit mode when executing the main function.
It supports multiple objects.

- Display Lights

Keep the lights displayed.
Work in Render View on Eevee without changing the appearance.

- Display Image empty

Keep the reference image displayed.

- Display Collection

Keep objects in a particular collection displayed.
Includes objects of child collections within the collection.

is it possible to make an option to keep lights visible while something is isolated? In 2.8 when working in a lit viewport, as soon as you enter local view everything goes dark because all of the lights are gone. I understand why they did it this way, but it’s still useful to have a “work light” while working in a lit viewport- so it could be a good option for those who miss the 2.79 functionality

What is difference between this and shift+H ?

Hide

Switch the display state of the object.

Local view

It becomes a unique display state.
It does not affect the display state of objects, making temporary work easier.

  • If Local view is executed again in the Local view state
    … Cancels the Local view state.

  • If the Local view state is entered

  • If the Local view state is canceled
    … View’s viewpoint is zoomed to the object

Isolate Select

  • If Local view is executed again in the Local view state

    • If the number of selected objects is less than the number of display objects
      … Set the Local view state of only selected objects

    • If the number of selected objects is the same as the number of display objects

    • or when nothing is selected
      … Cancels the Local view state

  • If the Local view state is entered

  • If the Local view state is canceled
    … View point of view never changes

Great! This works much nicer than default Isolate, thank you!

Have you thought about adding option/hotkey to step up/down the isolation levels?
So if you isolate 4 objects, then isolate 2, then 1. Be able to Exit back to Full view, or step backwards until full view again?

Maybe Shift + Q toggles into / back to Full.
But Shift + Ctrl or Shift + Alt can step up/down the views?

Edit: I also noticed if I have an Object in Edit Mode and Exit Isolation, it goes back into Object Mode.

Your suggestion keymap conflicted with my add-on, so I chose a different key setting.
Change the keymap from the add-on settings as needed.

Fixed a bug that resulted in the object mode when exit to global view.

Not sure if this is considered in the realm of your addon or not.

But if in Edit mode, it could be cool if you have faces/etc selected, if it could isolate those. Basically hiding faces not selected and un-hiding when existing isolate. If that makes sense?

Bookyakuno in some cad programs if you left click and drag from right to left it only selects what is entirely withinin the selection box. Does your isolate select do something like this? When I try to select for example a chair, the floor is selected as well, and the roof I think and the ceiling. Is there a way of doing this so only the chair get’s selected. If there is, and you can explain it to me I re-purchase the addon. If you can, it is actually worth alot more than that. Thanks
