Issue Painting Opaque Texture Over Mesh

Hello everyone,

I have just recently started learning Blender/3D and am having some issue texturing a character I am hoping to test out as an asset in Unity.

I am going for a hand painted look and when I try to paint over the figure, a few things happen; the paint appears in random parts on the body/texture and the paint stroke goes through the body and simultaneously paints on the front and back of the model.

The other issue is not being able to cover up the polygons in an adequate fashion so only the texture is visible. I have looked for tutorials online but cannot find one that covers my problem. Posted are some screenshots as well as a reference to the type of paint texture I am trying to replicate.




I would be happy to upload the model for anyone willing to take a look.

could you fixe your problem with texture painting? I´m having the same issues and can´t find a solution.
