Issue with Rigging to New Armature

Hello all, new blender user here. I’ve been working on trying to rig some models for use in a game but have encountered an issue when I try and parent the mesh from the default armature to the preset armature that it needs to be rigged to.

The pose resets to it’s default position once I delete the old armature. I’ve tried applying the rest position after parenting to the new armature as well as applying all transforms. I’ve had this same issue with another rig so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what you’re trying to do. In order for this to work how you want, the model has to have the same pose as the armature. The same pose as the rest pose of the armature. If you want to parent that model to the armature shown, the first thing you’re going to have to do is edit the model to be in the same pose as the armature. (There are any number of techniques to do so.)
