I’m taking an elective in high school called “Cyber Corp” and it’s basically an A+ certification curriculum. I’m now the assistant sys admin for the entire school.
Anyone know of any sites with information on the subject or of any experience with certifications like MSCE, Cisco, A+, etc?
I don’t know if they still have it, but the Canadian division of Cisco had a program to teach students about networks especially designed for schools. Try their web site and chances are they probably have a better program in the US.
I have a Cisco certification class and an A+ class, though they only teach 2 out of 4 trimesters of it at my school. I’m taking the A+ one now, and the Cisco and A+ tri 2 next trimester.
Seems kinda weird that you take a class and then instantly are the assistand system administrator. Were you like the only person who took the class?
Go buy a book, check online, ect, but isn’t the class supposed to TEACH that stuff?

Pooba, I’m assistant sys admin because I’m the only one in the class, I’m the teacher’s assistant and she’s the sys admin. I wanted books so I could get a good overview of some of the stuff I’m gonna be doing.
thats what i was about to say - hit the stores and but a book. cisco did have something web base that was nice but dont know where it is as of late. im am also studying for the A+ myself. grab a book and get something with a little extra like mine came with videos and pretests that gradually get harder once your skill is up.
i normally go to the libery find and old book i like then go to the shops and buy the updated one
Like everyone has already said, go buy or get a book. I’ve passed 3 Microsoft Exams all on the first try because of books. Some people I’ve heard of is using brain dump sites, but I personally don’t because for one, the answers could be wrong and two, its only memorizing then and no actual learning of the concept. I wouldn’t want a certification if i couldn’t do what I was supposed to learn to take the exam. Any type of study material that teaches you on the concept is what I would use.

i passed th a+ exam on my first try as well as 2 of the CIW exams.
um i think you need to buy the book or go to the library of look at a search engine for free ebooks or online manuals or something like that.
