It does not divide the face to select two vertices and press F. What is the correct way?

I added a plane, selected two vertices, and pressed ‘f’. It looks as if it has two faces, but the status bar says “Verts: 4, Edges: 5, Faces: 1, Tris: 2”. In the face selection mode, if I click one triangle, the rectangle is selected.

What key should I press instead of “f” to create two faces? I could use the knife tool, but it is not as easy as selecting two vertices and pressing ‘f’. I mean, drawing exactly from one vertex to the other vertex is not easy.

Hi,
To cut your plan, several possibilities:

    1. Select two vertices and press the J key
    1. Use the Knife tool by activating the Snap (Vertex)

In your case, using the F key, you are only creating a new edge between two vertices

EDIT:
For Info, when using the Knife tool, it is the Space key which validates the cut.
