It is possible to bake a grass? (Using Cycles)

Hi all, (sorry if this is a stupid question)

Is it possible to use bake texture tool on a particle system?

I’ll explain better, I have a big grass field made of a multiplied grass object, I want to bake the texture of all the individual objects.
I know I can convert everything to a mesh and bake a giant texture, but is there a better way?

Is this possible, or am I crazy?
