(I apologize beforehand for creating a flash applet, I know we’re all cross-platform open source enthusiasts and I’m aware that some will have to jump through hoops in order to view this. It’s has been my first flash app and will be my last, I promise…)
This is something I’ve been wanting to make for some time now. It’s based on a prelude in C minor for lute by J.S. Bach, but I’m used to playing it in Dm so that’s what you’ll hear. Every measure of the piece is represented by a floor tile on a dance floor that lights up in a certain colour, by clicking and dragging over the tiles you can re-arrange the music. You can record your compositions and save them for later enjoyment.
I used LuxRender for rendering and of course the modelling took place in Blender
The applet is located here: http://thomaskrijnen.com/jsbotdf/
The original by the master himself: http://thomaskrijnen.com/jsbotdf/#1000000000000
An awful re-interpretation: http://thomaskrijnen.com/jsbotdf/#1000000000001 by myself, but I’m sure you can all do much better!
And an image for the flashless: (to give a general idea, but it is nowhere near the actual experience)
Enjoy
