Hi everyone. Finished my children’s book, Jack and his Amazing Submarine, that was made completely in Blender with some post in PS. Went through many iterations of Blender before finishing. My two favorite additions (thank you coders) was the addition of hair and SSS rendering in Cycles. There’s much I would go back in and fix, change, rework, but as anyone knows, at that rate you will never release the project. I’m sure it will not be everyone’s cup of tea, it is a children’s story, but I hope anyone who watches it enjoys it and maybe your children will too
5 minutes in and really good so far…what is this doing on the third page??? nice job, man.
(edit) watched the whole thing. good job!
hey guys, this guy put an amazing amount of work into this, and gave a lot of attention to materials, compositing, composition and more. please don’t let his post sink away twice without a proper reply.
Really nice! A lot of good choices were taken here!!! Very inspiring! Congrats.
@spec4, a few screenshots wouldn’t hurt your first post
Thank you Modron and Secrop!! And anyone else who has given a watch!
What I could see of the first few minutes look real nice. Looking forward to watching the rest when I get back home in a few days. (Reception here stinks). Posted so I can find the page again.
Thanks for bumping this up Modron.
I watched it completely and it was truly amazing. The story and visual quality are inspiring! Great work.
A fantastic story, with a good combination of pictures and sound. The pink monster could be a little too much for the really young kids, but they will survive :). I was wondering a little about the type of animations made in the movie. Was all put in later on or did you do some or of all of it in Blender? I got the impression that you made all the stills and then it was put together in another tool to get the animations.
Yes, that’s true. Sorry if I misled at all. The stills were all made in Blender while the “animation” was mostly still animation done in premiere. I would have liked to do a completely animated feature but I’m certain I would still be working on the fist few scenes and it might get out there by 2025  I have other work that will be coming to my channel utilizing Blender soon. My next project is a somewhat spooky 2D animated children’s poem animated in Blender. Much shorter than this 36 minute (phew!) project
I watched about ten minutes of it. I can’t watch the rest right now but I will make time for it, so far it looks really nice, also, did you publish this a physical book?
I jumped when the shark came out of the water. I don’t think it’s that scary for kids, but it did scare me a little. Great job, good luck with your next project.
Thanks again everyone! Hi Rachel, we are looking into getting a physical copy out. Unfortunately the original was planned solely as an ebook so resolution will be an issue. It will take some time.
Very nice work.
Must have been a pain.
I would just make a tiny critic about the subsurface scall witch is a bit too high.
Simple yet beautiful images! I love the underwater scene, you submarine design is top notch!
This looks pretty good from the stills.
Why don’t you try to use 2D cutout animation in Blender for your next project, or even rig it with some bones to animate the drawings?
Hey Janneman, that’s just what I’m doing on my next project.
Pieriko, thanks for the critique. Plenty that needs work :o Hopefully the sequel will be an upgrade
