Jahka's particle patch (if you used it can you please view here)

question: i have got it and played around with it but i don’t know how to create hair! i want to make hair (or something close) so i can play with the cut, comb, grow, shrink tools! the most i can do is make animated particles. when i click on “particle mode” the window doesn’t come up :frowning:
where is the equivalent of the “static” and “verts” button in the patch? i need help!

I have no experience with Jahka’s patch, but provided it’s anything like old particles, you’ll need to make your particles Static, probably animated, and vector.

Yes, but i cannot find the equivalent of the “static” and “verts” button…you didn’t finish reading my previous post

can anybody help?

If you want to play around with the comb, cut, grow, shrink brushes in Jahka’s particle blender, then do these steps:

  1. Add a UV sphere.

  2. Add a particle system in the F7 menu.

  3. Make the particle system have a normal of 1, Path visualization rather than Point (the default is point) in the visualization tab of the particles panel.

  4. You then need to click on “Baking” in the particle panel, and change the bake type to Geometry/Static depending on which version of the patch you are using. Once you’ve set it to Geometry/Static, you can click on bake but make sure you’re in Object mode when baking the hairs.

You should have hairs to play around then.

and change the bake type to Geometry/Static depending on which version of the patch you are using.

THANK YOU!

THANK YOU AGAIN!

i tried adding it into my model, and i get a weird result. what i did was duplicate my head, remove most vertices except the ones at the top half of the scalp, then set that to a particle emitter. Do the particles only come out at vertices? because i seem to be having more hair around the middle of my head (where i have more vertices) the sides of my head look unaesthetically bald :frowning: (well there is some air there, but so little that you can see their roots…ew)

can anybody tell me how to increase the number of hair from a emitter, so i can achieve those thick, luscious locks on my chars head?

Hi noidtluom, if you’re finding you have enormous bald patches, you probably have more faces than you have particles. To change this, go to the Particle System tab and increase the “Amount” to at least the number of faces in your object. Pressing “Even” should also improve particle coverage.

However, one of the amazing new features of Jahka’s particles are child particles, so you can have many thousands of particles reacting quickly by having parent particles and then child particles which follow the parents. Once you’ve sorted the parent particles, turn on children (choose particles, edges or faces in the particle children tab - haven’t yet had a chance to test this newest version to see what does what), and you’ll find you have lots of lovely luscious hair.

@wolf I thank you to as I’ve been trying for days and days…IT the little things. Thanks
