In my pre-Blender days I used C4D, and one of my own favourite models was an IDE hard drive. I’ve finally gotten around to remodelling in Blender. Now I cheated somewhat. The original C4D model was built using a real HD for reference, but that’s long gone to the scrap heap, so my reference for the remodel was my original C4D scene, exported to .obj, and then I remade (almost) all from scratch in Blender. I say almost because I converted the read head and arm from the C4D model to a blender object, rather than remaking it. Being C4D, and using C4D modifiers, meant everything came in as separate objects (faces, bevels, caps were all separate). It’s taken remaking almost everything to simplify, and then putting the lot in a collection and using collection instancing. I’m reasonably happy with this. Uses the same HDRI, but I’m blowed if I can recreate the exact camera view, but such is life. A coupel fo images just of the basic model at all four sides, and a render of JBOD.
