Joining 2 bone structures?

Hi,

Is is possible to join 2 different armatures? I have one mesh, (the arm), that I have a bone system in and all the weight painting done on. I also have a different mesh, (the hand), that I want to join to the arm and have it act as if I created it as one piece. Is it possible to do this?

i have same broblem, i have done charecters face rig and got it pretty nice, when count amount all the constraints and and parenting it’s pretty complicated system but works nice, now i would like to do armature for the body. is there way to join 2 armatures as one and like that ready one won’t lose it weight painting. I have tried to do the body at editmode as the same armature but it’s center is on the head and it doesent wan’t to behave like it should, prob cause of the IK’ solver and other constraints

would really preciate if someone can help, or even make me sure that it’s inpossible.

I have never done it myself but I remembered that I had seen this tutorial over at blendercookie about joining armatures.

Yep… I have used the method shown at Blender cookie to do this… It’s a good tut and should answer your questions… thanks for the spot boboshia… saved me from looking it up :slight_smile:
