This is pretty cool! I’m not the greatest with animation, (especially in 3D). Maybe adding a box that drops in and has something in it? (up 2 you) or something comes out of the hole?
You seem to have the right ideas for movements, but you would benefit from using a video reference. Either find a video of someone jumping, or film yourself doing it. Then, you can copy the timing of the video and the poses. This isn’t cheating either, it’s the standard practice among animators to film themselves acting their animation.
One thing that strikes me as missing is a preparation before the jump. people don’t just randomly burst into the air like this.
Standing on one leg then the other would cause the body to have some sideways movement. In doubt try it yourself and you will see.
As @etn249 mentioned, people don’t just randomly jump into the air. You should look up the 12 principles of animation because you need anticipation before the jump.
The body mechanics of the first one looked off, like the character couldn’t move how it did. Like out of balance, but you corrected that in the other ones. Good job!
A couple of us here were working on some animation practice here and I’m going to suggest a new topic for this.
pratically pose to pose in movement and strait forward in the poses , anticipation is a problem i had with a previous animation i will try to add that and make adjust momentum, thanks!
Thanks everyone who replied, this helped me a lot!
I added anticipation and gave the scene a new context based on the hazard, i think it’s more fun, but i’ll still work on fixing some issues.
This one is nice! The movement is always readable and the timing is easy to understand. Those are important aspects and they are fine here.
I only have some minor comments.
On the technical side, I would say be careful about intersecting the wall, the head and elbows do go into it a bit.
On the artistic side, I would like to talk about the way the arms are brought back to the chest at the fifth second. The movement is not badly animated, but seems a bit unnatural to me, like that’s not how a human would choose to move.
Maybe it’s too quick. Someone bringing their arms in like this out of fear would do it in a more careful and uncertain way, not slapping their chest suddenly like this.
Maybe it’s the way the arms move one by one. To be fair, I would expect a bit of delay between them, it’s unlikely they would move exactly at the same time, but there would be some overlap in time rather than one arm doing the whole movement before the other starts.
looks good, the one thing that has ben bothering me is the sense of weight I think all her momentum is down her stumbling forward seems odd to me. but take my thoughts wit ha grain of salt I’m not an expert.
