Yeah it’s such an old school mindset, it’s sad to see it’s still a thing even among “artistic” domain. Especially given there is a lot of female artists in the industry. Shutting their doors to half of the population seems crazy to me. But yeah hence the “bros” in blender bros… Maybe the blender community need them to be “complete”
I think if they made a tutorial that is the right fit for you it’s probably good to watch it though. But it’s good to know who is behind to avoid wandering to much in their land
Personally I can watch a Blender Guru’s tutorial, because as tutors they can be good, but I don’t like much their personality and I don’t think I share a lot of views with them. Also it’s also fun when they claim nonsense stuff with total confidence like your loosing your life not listening to them… But this can be dangerous if you take everything they say for granted …
But avoiding them altogether completely is another option that I totally respect !

There’s another popular Blender hard surface modeller that’s obsessed with Nazism and Hitler. I’m not sure if there’s some sort of YouTube requirement that requires you to sacrifice brainpower in order to become a Blender hard surface tutor.
He’s not the guru you might think. He really has no clue and just stumbles through things, not understanding the tools fully. I found a guy who actually designs for CNC and does know what he’s doing and the difference is nigh and day. I won’t watch their videos anyway as they can monitize that. But, the won’t be liking the choice they made shortly… (see my other comment)

Just a note. I shared my concerns with Plasticity’s Social Media Manager, and they were very thankful that I shared his behavior with them, as they don’t want their reputation tarnished by such trash. I suspect the Bros won’t be smiling when they get the news.
I suspect Blender will be equally or even more concerned given the use of their name.

Cast a wider net- the current formula for success on YouTube is “manosphere” stuff, and it’s pervaded every corner from gaming to DIY. Blender YouTube fits nicely; most new Blender users looking for tutorials are young white men, this alpha male crap is the perfect side dish for unscrupulous creators to keep those viewers hooked
Yes, that’s unfortunately not surprising, given the vast majority of Blender Youtubers are white men. I guess just take this as a lesson on why to support creators from minority groups and give them some love, so it’s easier for people to avoid unscrupulous creators like the Blender Bros when alternatives are more popular.
As an actual psychologist, I would encourage you to examine your beliefs more closely. There is absolutely no connection between masculine and/or alpha maie (both entirely natural and necessary for the survival of the species for hundreds of thousands of years, which is why it evolved, and narcissism, which is a very damaged individual. Further, race also has nothing to do with anything frankly, except in the mind of racists. Were you aware that race is a completely made up thing? Yep, not an actual thing. It doesn’t exist, except in the minds of those who do not know its history. And I can assure you that narcissism is not limited to any particular group. You will find that people with it tend to be either the leaders of nations, or criminals. lol

As an actual person online, I know that young white men are enthralled by what is usually referred to as alpha male content. I don’t know or particularly care if that’s the psychologically correct term, I just know that content promoting a chauvinistic misogynistic lifestyle is very successful online right now, especially on YouTube, with young white men.
You’re welcome to protest terminology, but it’s not going to do anything about the Andrew Tates or blender Bros of the world that are out there, right now, making mllions of dollars doing the things you say are not happening. It’s not going to change the 6% increase in young white men over the last five years saying, when surveyed, that man are more intelligent than women. It’s certainly not going to stop the Turning Point acolytes from harassing and doxxing women online for the crime of having careers instead of being completely subservient to a man. Out of curiosity, is this still the case? It was pushed to me a while ago, but nowadays I see nothing like that. Or did I trained the personalized part of the algorithm enough that I don’t want to see such content?
I know more-or-less what it is. Was wondering if YT is still promoting such a content as I personally haven’t seen it for quite a while (incl. videos of guys mentioned in the title, maybe aside from search results, but not as a recommendation on front page).

That’s due to the algorithm and based on everything you do search and watch. Try one search based on what Joseph is saying and then watch a couple of those videos for a bit and I would be amazed if you didn’t get flooded with all the same type of content.
I mean I get Blender content showing up all the time, however I pretty much don’t see Maya or 3DS Max based content, given that I don’t search or watch any of those.
I won’t . But it used to be the case that such content was shoved down my throat regardless of me watching it in the past (I never did, never was interested in this). Including on front page. It’s not showing up for me nowadays. I do use an addon nowadays that removes shorts completely though and allows me to block channels and I would block any like that if it showed up. But I can’t recall blocking that as it doesn’t show up for me (I do get genAI videos pop up though and I block those channels as I see them).
Yeah, I think things may have got a bit more focused or it’s just based on your patterns over time. They want you to watch stuff and see ads, so if it’s established that even after being shown thumbnails of the same endless content and you never clicked any of it, it would make sense not to show it any more.
But as soon as you search and watch something new, you’ll get more of it, to see if its an ongoing interest, made refined to a higher level (like my all Blender but no Maya/3DS Max, it’s all 3D creation software, but Youtube knows I don’t click on Maya/3DS Max stuff, so it’s not shown).
Or it was just a one off, at which point, not clicking on any more, will result in it dropping off fairly fast.
