Just Getting Started

Hey All.
Just Got Into Blender again after a long break. Just Finished Up The “getting started” tutorials on the blendercookie website, very informative stuff.
But im wondering, where do i go from here? What tutorials do i follow? I thought I’d do a few random tutorials, but there were some concepts that i couldnt follow in someof the tutorials, so it was quite daunting for me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

  1. google is your friend: “blender tutorial”
  2. Look in the tutorials forum here.
  3. Did I mention google?
  4. Vimeo search for “blender tutorial”

I’m a beginner too and I got me some books. Too informative. I recommend you switch to books rather than try and copy various tutorials on the web. No disrespect but this was the case with me. I have worked in Maya and Max but Books have always proved to be better than online.

there are some good information about the right books at Blendernation.com. Try It.

Cheers.

I know you probably get this kinda question alot, hence why your so frustrated, i can find plenty of tutorials, but i just dont know if they are with my level of experience.
Thanks Anyway.
Thanks Bharat, Will Check Some Books out.

Have a little think on why you use Blender, is it to model, or is it to use the Game Engine or is it to use CG? That should hep a bit! Now if you know the “basics”, just search youtube/vimeo for a tutorial on how to model a _________ or how to use logic bricks to achieve ________. Enjoy
I did a quick search, if you like, heres a tutorial on how to model a Coke can.v:yes:

Hello
Well, I have no specific goal per say… But probably the end result im looking for is to be able to model and animate CG movies or short films, i know this is a pretty big Goal, but, lets see where it takes me.
I thought of following some tutorials on blendercookie on modelling, but there were some concepts i just couldnt grasp, so i thought i still havent got down the basics

This is a good place to start http://gryllus.net/Blender/3D.html

this is the best site for newbs

Hey Guys, Do You Reckon A Beginner could Start with this?

They Say Its Designed For Beginners, So Could A beginner like me get up and running and be creating rigged models like that from following this tutorial?
im willing to spring for it if its worth it
And would it be compatible with blender 2.61?
Thanks

Im Just About To Purchase It.
Please tell Me If its A Good Starting Point.

CGC do have a good stuff indeed. So you could go for it, no second thought.
Still, while you’re at blender, what do you not understand, can you specify that for yourself?
Ask that, look on G. And try to model simple things, then get this to either pic or movie; that will bring a lot of new questions, you might get into dead ends too :).
During all that you will get more and more familiar with blender and will be able to do much more rather than simply following some specific tutorial or reading just some specific book.
And start to memorize keystrokes, forget you have almost all on menus from very beginning. There wont be any help of some book, just repetitive work.
You could look for any 4 to 6 segment tut on internet how to model, texture, animate something. Basics you wont escape. Same CGC, Vimeo were mentioned here. On G it’s harder to find things because of wast amount of not so good products.
Don’t be afraid of even following some old stuff, principles are the same on old and new blender versions despite some differences.

Blend more.
Hope that helps.
