Just trying :)

hi!
this is my first time uploading my artwork here and I’m trying to make photorealistic product. I’m suprise product photo lighting realy hard to apply.
please give me a kind feedback and can you give me some good channel or link to learn about product photo grapher thanks

f you’re going for realism, perhaps it needs flaws (imperfections), and adding dorplets would make it unquestionably more appealing.

oh I see, how about strach or fingger print imperfection on photo product is it needed?

Some products simply have a flawless appearance, although that is uncommon with bottles and cans.

I just took this picture from Coca-website,and you can see that there are a few smudges in the glass, though they are slight enough that the average consumer won’t notice them.

Looking at your product, the easiest lighting setup for a bottle is to use symmetrical side lighting using a tall area light, it also complements the bottle’s tall appearance, you can play with 1:1 light ratio (or 2:2 if you want more depth).

For the imperfection, it depends on what you want to communicate, if you want to express the product’s freshness, you can add water droplets. For the scratch and fingerprint, i don’t recommend adding it (or at least don’t go crazy with it), product photographer always chooses the cleanest bottle and always wipes the bottle before taking a picture, and we also cleaned it up again in post.

on a side note, the dark edge on the bottle seems strange though, i don’t know if its because of lighting or it’s because of the inverted normals or something else in the 3d models.

Btw, Nice models!

I think I need to learn more about light ratio .

for the dark edge I just mimic some tips from youtube, he use black reflection just to make contrass on edge and i think thats cool (I dont think that uncomon)
thanksss bro

Yes, it’s a common technique, it’s ok then if it was intentional.

The light ratio is really simple, If you use 2 lights, then 1:1 means your second light (fill) is on the same brightness as the main light (key), if it’s 2:1, then your fill light is half as bright as your main light.

Your 2nd image is already much better, maybe the little rainbow colour under the cap is a bit distracting.
