Kaboom Kremlin

Hi everybody,

I post this one in “Finished Projects” even if for me, it is really far from being finished.

I made this animation for a tutorial for the French edition of “Computer Arts” magazine, trying to “mimic” (with a lower level of details, of course) the destruction of the Kremlin in the movie “Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol”.

This Animation was done in Blender 2.63a, using Cycles for the rendering of the Kremlin (not covered in the article), and Internal Renderer for the smoke. Then, both element was composited together.

The original MP4 (compressed with higher quality), can be downloaded by clicking the Download button, just bellow the video.

They are several things to add to make a perfect explosion, and so many things are missing (debris, flames, etc …) but I only have 6 pages to explain the technique. So … I think it’s a good start but it’s not finished yet. Just a kind of crappy test … :o

Thanks …

It looks nice.
I don’t think that dust would appear from the top of the tower like that thou even if it was falling, more dust should appear at the bottom and by doing that push dust upwards. From your animation it looks like the dust is spawning higher and higher up the tower.

I haven’t seen the movie thou and I’m not sure if the thing I described is correct, its just how I would assume it works.

And again, nice work

Building should falling a little bit longer you know like in slow motion then it looks very massive.
