Keeping original alpha of material when using Material Override on Cycles

Hi, I was wondering if there’s anyway of keeping the original alpha texture of the overriden material when using Material Override on Cycles.

If I have stuff like hair cards, I want to keep the alpha texture, just overriding stuff like the color, metallic values, etc… of the original material, thanks.

No, afraid not. Material override is just that…it overrides all materials in the file.

You could try to Hide the Hair from render and render out your Over-ride material ( save the image), and then hide everything else and add the mask into the over-ride material and render out just the hair, you could then take it to the Compositor and merge them …not sure if it would work
