KILLDOZER: Bulldozer Smashes through Walls of Cubes

Hi everyone! I have just completed Part II of my Rigid Bodies series. You can view it here:

All rendered in Blender Internal, except for the final shot. I would have liked to have rendered in Cycles, but there was no way it was happening. Even just having the last shot was a race to the clock to be able to upload in time. Having said that, it was a good learning experience to try to make the images better in BI. Maybe in time I will be skilled enough to render in Internal all the time! :eyebrowlift:

Thanks goes to:
Daniel Kreuter for the awesome bulldozer model- http://www.blendswap.com/blends/view/27503
Chris Kuhn for his very handy gadgets, gizmos and greebles models- http://www.blendswap.com/blends/view/45973
and of course Kevin MacLeod of incompetech.com; the track is called “The Cannery”

Also a very big thank you to everyone who contributed to my lens breathing thread on the Blender Tests subforum, especially to NinthJake for creating a better camera rig for me!

If you liked the video, stay tuned for the next one. I’ll be running a very simple, very easy to win contest when we release Part 3 in a few months. The winner will receive 100 Euros worth of rendering from Renderflow.com!

This was a cool animation James, good camera work too. You gotta love them rigid bodies.

Thank you, harleynut97! I do my best to really use the camera well, so that means a lot!
By the way, I saw your “Unmanned Vengeance” video last week; fantastic job! It must have been a ton of work, 5 stars all around!

Just wanted to say, loved the simulation. Impressive and interesting presentation of the new rigid bodies tool. Thanks for that…

Thank you, coolsquare! I feel that if I am going to make a video that is basically just a “test video”, then I should present it in an interesting way. It is also a good way to practice the basics of storytelling. I hope one day to be very good at it.

It was very neat work. Very nice camera work. Very neat quality of animation.

Nice work. I love the various camera angles.

Steve S

Thank you, MamuBhai and Steve S! I had a lot of fun making this video, and am really looking forward to the next one.

I’d also like to thank everyone who’s subscribed to our channel recently. Thanks to you all, Classy Dog Films has more than doubled it’s subscribers! I truly appreciate the support each and every one of you gives us!

Nice, Well done James. Hope to see more…

Jim Morren

Thanks, Jim! We’re currently finishing another video right now, so stay tuned for it’s release next week!

Well done; I agree - good camera work. Congrats!

Super! I don’t think using Blender Internal detracted from the finished product at all.

Thanks very much, guys! Your support means a lot!
I agree, I know that Blender Internal can create images that look just as good as Cycles, but I didn’t know if my knowledge of it would be sufficient. It’s good to know that it was!

I hope to continue to get better with it, as well as with Cycles, because I feel both render engines have their strengths. Speaking of Blender Internal, our next video will also be rendered through it. It should be uploaded next Tuesday. Here’s a screenshot:

I’ll leave it to you to guess the game it’s based on.

Hey James… I don’t have a friggen clue as to what game it is based off… but I do know little kids who ride in bike seats, usually don’t have sideburns

You’re right, harleynut! They also don’t have facial hair or hairy legs!
