King Bubgrub

Something I came up with over the weekend.
Textures drawn in PS, rendered and modeled in Blender.

update. I changed the ambience and my lighting a bit as BgDM suggested, it’s not a big change since I was pretty happy with the original. but a change nonetheless. you can see the old version here:http://mattimusonline.com/King%20Bubgrub.jpg

Looks pretty good!
I can’t tell if you’re using SSS, but it looks a little like plastic.

Thanks!
I am using some SSS on his skin, and more SSS on his webbing

Looking at it again, maybe it’s just slimy-looking;)

^^^ Slimy and wet was what I was going for =p

Nice job, I like the feathers.

Fantastic model and the textures look good too.

Your lighting is killing the image though. You need some more ambient light/fill light to highlight the model overall.

BgDM

Thanks for the tip BgDM, I made a slight change to my lighting, although I didn’t want to change it too much.

More contrast really wouldn’t hurt at all. As in make the lighting brighter.

Fantastic textures! Great modeling

Nice work. Thanks for the wireframe pic and great work on the texturing and modeling. There is one thing that bugs me. There is a blurred line under his “feet” on the tree and its a bit distracting. Is it placed there intentionally?

The scene looks like a night scene as the light is uni-directional and centered low as though from a torch. If this is what you wanted then i think you got it. I think the king is very good (actually he is fantastic), but the log either needs better texturing or perhaps some actual modelling to raise the bark a bit - like you have done with the stick. Finally, I think I can see the need for an extra level of smoothing on his left knee?

Mmm, I like frogs you know …
Nice modelling, try to use (or to increase if you did) the SSS fx and it will be great. I would also add more spec and reflection on the eyes and some bump on the skin (use stucci or clouds texture).

wicked, that what I was sort of aiming for.

Thanks. fixed =P

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone.

Awesome work!!! I really love it! Great modeling and texturing.

Keep it up!

Great work!

I suggest a light hemi or some type of constant/ambient light.

I love your backdrop.

wow very nice~!
