Can i use particles to make a Black persond hair? If so how? Also when I make hair it looks good in the 3d view but when i render the hair looks like picecs of straw, thick. Can I make super fine hair? I have read the tutorials so I need new info if anyone has it.
in the Links and Pipeline tab…there’s a “Strands” button… set “Start” higher a lot higher than end(10-12… or for thin strands… just leave it on 1 or 2) and set the strandsize to -900… you could use a blendtexture to make it fade into… nothing… and seem thinner at the tips. That has to sound kinda vague…
First I added a partcle effect and then I added a material with a “cloud voroni f1” texture.
I’m in a bit of a rush, so I will post some shots of what I did.
Jack, one one the links does not work. I just need to know one more thing
How do I colot the hair? When I go to materials and set the color I want it
looks good in 3d view but rendered it is too dark, light sometimes there is even a color that I don’t want.
Well lets start from the top. Bear with me if youre not a newb.
There is this search engine called ‘google’. It can find any pages related to any words that you type in the search engine. For example, you go to www.google.com and type “Blender Hair Tutorial” in the box, can find results like this tut http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/PartXIII/Particle_Hair (creating hair, texturing/color, waveguide)
Then try what Jack above did with the voronoi texture, go to ‘map to’ and click off everything (COL, etc) but click on DISP.
If theres any specific topic I will do my best to help
To get teh kinky the important settings are in the Particle Motion tab.
Put a texture with lots of variation (like JackBlack’s Cloud/voronoi above) in one of the texture slots. Specify this slot in the Particle Motion tab under Tex: (the second button group under Force).
Turn on the Grad button and crank up the Nabla.
Increase Texture: in the Velocity buttons. Start with very low values for Normal, Random, and anything else.
Use a high number of keys (upper left button in the panel).
In the Particles tab, set step to 1.
Disp will do nothing for you. You can turn off all the Map To settings for this texture and the kinky effect will still work.
Thanks CD, that was what I needed. I was getting messed up on the secify
part. I would have done this sooner but JackBlack’s links, one linkdoes not work.
