Kitchen

This is my first attempt at a modern kitchen. I still have quite a bit to do, including some bread and basket, faucet, some little plants, and of course compositing, but this is my first real render where I wasn’t like “wait, that doesn’t look right…”

I am open to critiques on whether you think im going in the right direction or not. This was the image that I am modelling from:

and my render:

looks pretty good so far, but the lighting is a bit on the dim side.

looks nice
I’m not sure, but have you forgot to model handles on the back?
also make a higher sampeling, the picture has too much noise.

This is a really nice start, I think I would consider a different wall tile behind the sink, I think it detracts from your overall image. The floor wood could use some color correction to get it closer to the reference, which I think looks better with the lighter color wood floor. The recessed lights look a touch too big in diameter.

But your cabnets, counter tops, appliances look really nice. Like someone else mentioned the overall lighting needs to be increased and of course noise reduction. Interior render with cycles is always challenging to say the least. There are some good tips out there with clamping and some other things to help reduce noise and lower the # of samples to do so. But your well on your way to a real nice render.

Thank you all for you advice. I hadn’t had everything modeled yet, and I still don’t, but I thought I would put in an update.

@harleynut97, i definitely see what you were saying about the tile behind the sink. I guess i just kinda settled for a tile i thought I would like instead of going with one that fit the picture. I since found a tile that fits the picture and the color scheme more accurately. I also changed the marble counter tops as the green didn’t suit the modern scheme either. I did change the lighting quite a bit too. The sampling rate atm is 1000, which i would think is pretty high, but for the final render i will be messing around more with the different option, but these are just test renders so far.

I am having trouble with the plants in the background aswell. I tried to use a hair particle system using a group of leaves I modeled, but they end up in different rotations and they seem to have no gravity to them. I am thinking this has to do with no weight painting but i have no idea how to weight paint. Is there any way to make just a basic little bush like that without particle systems?

BTW, I know the lighting is different but I kinda like it better like this, since it looks like there are big bay windows just off screen.
