knife cut preferences

Can I change knife cut default from exact to mid points ? I can not find the settings in user preferences.

I swapped those those as I found myself using the midpoints option more than the exact one.

I do not know what that drop down menu above with Blender listed there is for. mine has a second 3d program under Blender
