Knife Modeling

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with texturing this knife? This is pretty much my very first model so I have virtually no experience with it. I would like to make it as realistic as possible hence my decision to use the cycles rendering engine. I’ve been told it’s good for that.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would be very thankful.

(I just have the blade complete for now)

Well thanks to the new anisotropic shader in cycles, you could probably do the whole thing purely with materials and procedural textures, and then if you wanted some etching or something near the handle you could add a normal map. But if I was you I’d stick a near perfect mirror on the flat edges, then the point where it tapers to the edge use the anisotropic shader with a texture that’s been stretched out to give that brushed metal look.
