Knowing where a material is used

I’m looking for this all the morning long…

I just need to know where a material is used, because I need to delete it. When I put it on an object, it always says “2 users”, but I haven’t used fake user…

I saw it was possible with OOPS shematic, but there is no more with 2.5.

So how can you do this now?

just go in edit mode, deselect everything, go to the material, choose the material and then click on “select” (available only in edit mode). this should do the trick.

I don’t understand, your trick help me to know where a material is used within an object. But, since I have to select an object to go into edit mode, I can’t use it to know which object use a material.
